Edición especial Año Internacional de la Luz 2015:
FOTO.FÍSICA es un concurso de fotografía científica organizado por iniciativa de la Sociedad Uruguaya de Física (SUF) con el auspicio del PEDECIBA, el Centro de Fotografía y otras instituciones. Está dirigido a todo público, aunque especialmente orientado a estudiantes, docentes, aficionados e investigadores. El concurso es una oportunidad para involucrarse con la ciencia desde la perspectiva que brinda el arte. Es una forma de motivar a través de la creatividad, ofreciendo la ocasión de acercarse estéticamente a la ciencia. Es también un modo de difundir la ciencia a través de imágenes, es decir, una invitación a la comunidad a participar en actividades de comunicación pública de la ciencia. Las fotografías pueden representar a la ciencia en sus más diversas relaciones con la actividad Humana. En esta edición especial se enfocará especialmente en el "Año Internacional de la Luz 2015".
Se busca que las fotografías presentadas muestren el modo en que la ciencia interviene en la vida cotidiana. Pueden reflejar un fenómeno natural que espontáneamente sea demostrativo de un principio físico o pueden ser montajes especialmente diseñados para captar en una imagen algún fenómeno o concepto físico. En cualquiera de los dos casos las fotografías deben reflejar la física presente en nuestra vida. Finalmente podemos sintetizar este concurso como un desafío a la creatividad, por encontrar las conexiones entre el arte y el conocimiento, entre la observación y la comunicación.
En esta oportunidad el concurso incluirá tres categorías:
a) escolar, para niños cursando educación primaria,
b) liceal, para jóvenes cursando educación media en cualquiera de sus modalidades y
c) general.
Los premios incluyen una tablet para los ganadores de cada categoría y otros premios que se anunciarán para las siguientes menciones.

El mejor póster de entre los estudiantes o jóvenes investigadores (menores de 35 años) recibirá como premio un pasaje ida y vuelta para asistir a la Primera Reunión de la LACA a realizarse en San Pablo en 2015.

The school is jointly organized with the Dutch Research School of Theoretical Physics (DRSTP) and is intended for graduate students and researchers in the field of high-energy theoretical physics. There is no registration fee and limited funds are available for local and travel support of participants. This school in São Paulo will be preceded by the XVIII J. A. Swieca School in Campos de Jordão.

The proposed school comes at an ideal time in order to compare and creatively confront different modern approaches to highly charged, structured, and disordered Coulomb systems. Its primary purpose will be to cross-pollinate the different theoretical, experimental and simulation approaches in order to progress towards a unified description of the electrostatic interactions in soft- and bio-matter. Approximate analytical theories as well as sophisticated simulations should pave the way in this endeavor and the school will first of all present their state-of-the-art as well as induce constructive interactions between these different theoretical approaches, as well as with the available experimental data.
Besides a poster session, attendants will be also invited to give short talks about their research activity in their home country in specific sessions that will be reserved in the working agenda for this purpose. This school is aimed at graduate students and researchers in the fields of statistical mechanics, materials science, biophysics and nanobiotechnology. There is no registration fee and limited funds are available for travel and local expenses.
